 Event 3: Cabrillo Aquarium Grunion Fishtival Confirmation:                                                                      (me on the right, employee on the very left lead in hatching grunion!) June 9, 2024 I attended the “Grunion Fishtival” at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for my third event. In my opinion, it’s a perfect intersection of science, art, and entertainment. Grunion are a type of fish that flood the shores of beaches from Southern California to Baja California as they lay and fertilize eggs out of the water. Grunion only mate in the 2-4 days following the new or full moon, and come out of the water 30-60 minutes after high tide.
